    The NCAA Final Four is returning to the great state of Minnesota. Minnesota is no stranger to college basketball as Minneapolis has hosted three NCAA Men's Final Fours.

    History of the NCAA Final Four

    The first college basketball tournament in America was decided on March 27, 1939 in Evanston, Illinois, the birthplace of tournament style basketball championships. The field of 8 drew a crowd of 15,000 over the course of the 10 day tournament. Today’s NCAA March Madness begins with a field of 68 and ends with the NCAA Final Four over a course of 18 days. Since its inception the tournament has seen 35 different champions. There are teams that win our hearts like John Wooden’s 10 time champion UCLA Bruins and teams that capture our imagination like the 1947 Holy Cross Crusaders winning it all, despite being the last seed. We even had the college basketball version of the Kentucky Derby in '12 when the rival Louisville Cardinals and Kentucky Wildcats faced off in the semifinals. The world is now in love with March Madness as the Final Four draws crowds of 150,000 and is the most exciting weekend in all of sports.

    Where is the 2019 Final Four?

    The 2019 NCAA Final Four will be played at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota with the National Semifinals being played April 6 and the National Championship tipping off on April 8.

    Future Final Four Locations

    In 2020, Atlanta will host its fifth Final Four at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The $1.4 billion facility seats 75,000 and will also host Super Bowl LIII. Mercedes-Benz stadium will be located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, the central site of the '96 Olympic Games. And if you'd like to double the sporting excitement that week, you can take a trip to Augusta for The Masters later that same week.

    The 2021 Final Four will see Lucas Oil Stadium will host Indianapolis’ 8th Final Four. The 67,000 seat arena has hosted Final Four games as well as the Super Bowl and is the home of the Indianapolis Colts. The 720 million dollar stadium will see the Big Ten Football Championship in 2021.

    And for the sixth time in its history, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will host the mens basketball national championship, when the 2022 Final Four comes to New Orleans. The previous edition hosted in the Big Easy featured a Kentucky team that took down rival Louisville before defeating fellow blue-blood Kansas in the final.
