If you're looking to buy NASCAR tickets to attend a race during the 2018 Monster Energy Cup season, the NASCAR schedule release brought a few pleasant surprises. Race date changes, track layouts, and additional races are all on tap for the 2018 NASCAR schedule. Stock car racing fans will enjoy more opportunities to see their favorite NASCAR drivers compete on holiday weekends at some of the top speedways in the country, with more variety between standard tracks, superspeedways, short tracks, and even road courses throughout the entire year, with added emphasis during key parts of the race schedule, including NASCAR playoff qualification and the Chase for the Championship.

The lone new addition to the NASCAR schedule in 2018 is a second race for the ultra-popular Las Vegas Motor Speedway. If you were previously unable to commit to buying a NASCAR ticket package for the early season spring race, there's now a chance to visit Sin City for the Las Vegas fall race which will mark the beginning of the NASCAR playoffs (formerly The Chase for the Cup). There are, of course, casualties to this NASCAR schedule change as New Hampshire Motor Speedway is now without a second race for the season.

Some tracks will be making multiple adjustments for the 2018 schedule. NASCAR has confirmed that Richmond Raceway will now move into the playoffs, joining Martinsville Speedway as the only short tracks included in determining NASCAR's champion for the season. NASCAR ticket holders for Richmond's spring race will also see a slight change as it will move to a Saturday night race. The addition of the Richmond fall race to the NASCAR playoffs meant another speedway needed to fill the void as the last race of the 2018 regular season, and The Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was eager to wave the checkered flag on that decision. The last bit of variety added to the NASCAR playoffs next year will be at Charlotte Motor Speedway where the infield road course will be used for the first time on the Monster Energy Cup Series. What better reason to purchase a NASCAR race package than to witness sports history live at the unofficial home of stock car racing!

If you're keeping track on changes to the playoffs for the 2018 NASCAR season, you'll notice that we're still one race heavy for the ten available slots in the championship. The last domino to fall is Chicagoland Speedway, which will move out of the playoffs but into a prime time slot in early July -- a perfect way to spend the 4th of July holiday weekend for fans looking to get their NASCAR tickets early. Speaking of holiday weekends on the newly released NASCAR schedule, the signature event of the sport, the Daytona 500, will switch back to its traditional date on Presidents' Day weekend, providing a truly All-American experience for racing enthusiasts looking to make the trip.
